The Red Viper, otherwise known as Prince Oberyn Martell, the hot-headed younger brother of Prince Doran Martell, is seeking vengeance. The most dangerous and unpredictable man in Westeros, Oberyn will not let anything prevent him from avenging the rape and murder of his sister, Elia, and her two children.

Oberyn Martell has many friends in Dorne and throughout the Seven Kingdoms. He maintains a friendship with Willas Tyrell, despite the fact that he is the one who accidently crippled Willas. Oberyn is secretly a Targaryen loyalist, and will ally with the Targaryens should they return to Westeros.
Enemies
For every friend Oberyn possesses, he also has an enemy. The Yronwoods and most of the Reach are still angry at him because of his behaviour during his youth. Oberyn openly dislikes the Lannisters and the Baratheons, for the role each house played in Elia's death. Oberyn is a sworn enemy of Ser Gregor Clegane.
Lovers
Oberyn's sexual exploits have almost become legendary, but like most legends, Oberyn's exploits are largely exaggerated. While he has slept with numerous women, he has not fathered hundreds of bastards. The rumours concerning Oberyn's bisexuality are also false. Oberyn's current lover is Ellaria Sand, but they are in a very open relationship.
