Tensions spring in Yi Ti as Emperor Bu Gai campaigns for control of the Yi Tish empire.
But Bu Gai may be from the Azure dynasty, there is rumors of a wizard who has prolonged his life for thousands of years, and yields from the Yellow Dynasty of the ancient times. His claim is strong, but he rules outside of the empire in the legendary city of Carcosa. Known as the King in the Yellow, he is monstrous.
Pol Qo, a great general, has styled himself the first of the Orange Emperors dynasty, who is gathering an army and plans an attack on Yin to take the city and seat of the emperor as his own.
Qai Zho, a man who styles himself Prince and Heir to the seat of Emperor, rises in Tiqui and has strong supporters of his cause. He claims to be the son of Emperor Bu Gai, and that the gods have decided for his father to step down. His compassion and battle prowess attracts appeal.
Yi Ti has certainly been spanning negative attention, but it doesn't stop there. In the south to the island of Leng, rumors spread of the Yi Tish emperor's plans for war, and Empress Jhai Me of the Ohao dynasty intends to act. Whether the emperor himself declares war against Leng to further extend his power or the empress strikes first, the tension is uneasy. Can the empress, ill and elder as she is, cope?
The heiress to the Lengii throne, Lhai Me, the princess remains fearful of the rumors herself, but fearing what may fate Leng. Her mother is ill and fading from sickness, and as heiress, she may easily become empress to a war-stricken empire.

Tensions are high in the city shrouded by shadow, as it seems it is on the brink of civil war. The city has been forever ruled by a council of five, representing the interests of the Asshai people. That balance has been shifted however, as Myzal, the Highest Flame, has died unexpectedly, with no heir apparent to take his place on the council, the interests of R’hllor aren’t being represented, and most politically savvy nobles are making moves to place their own puppet in the seat of the Highest Flame.
The Highest Flame = Religious Leader
The Brightest Blade = Military Leader
The Warmest Torch = Scholarly Leader
The Longest Shadow = Merchant Leader
The Lowest Ash = Smallfolk Leader
The eldest on the current council of Asshai is Doaz, the Brightest Blade. Despite being an old man, he’s still fierce, and believes Asshai should expand west via conquest as the Valyrians did before them.
His staunchest opposition comes from Morrozo, the Warmest Torch. A young man, recently ascended to the seat of Warmest Torch after the previous one died in a magical accident. He believes in peace, and that prosperity will come to Asshai once they reach out to other realms with an open hand.
This belief has lead Morrozo to become close allies with Anize. The current Longest Shadow. A woman who is very much interested in gold, and making a profit. She tends to personally lead important trade routes.
Finally, in the council is Zare, a man born of low birth, but raised to the council to represent the people’s interests.
